Milko Bozhkov

Milko Bozhkov was born in 1953 in the Veliko Tarnovo village of Resen. In 1972, he graduated from the Art High School in Sofia. In 1978, he graduated from the "Nikolay Pavlovich" Higher Institute of Fine Arts, in the "Painting" class of Dobri Dobrev. In 1982, he became a scholarship holder of the French government, Paris.

He has held more than 100 solo exhibitions in Bulgaria, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Russia, Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Sweden, Germany and France. He participated in more than 150 group exhibitions and biennials of graphics, drawing and painting in Bulgaria, USA, Mexico, Venezuela, Brazil, Japan, Malaysia, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Belgium, Holland, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland, Russia, former Yugoslavia. His works are in the possession of the Library of Congress - Washington, USA; Art Museum - Portland, Oregon, USA; National Library – Paris, France; Kanagawa Prefectural Gallery, Japan; Museum of Contemporary Art - Szczecin, Poland; Nelimarkka Museum – Alajarvi, Finland; National Art Gallery – Prague, Czech Republic; Peter Ludwig Collection – Budapest, Hungary; Hugo Wooten Collection, Belgium; Svetlin Rusev collection – Sofia, Pleven; National Art Gallery - Sofia and private collections in the country and abroad. He is the winner of numerous painting awards, among them are the National Painting Award "Zahari Zograf" (2002) and the Annual National Painting Award "Vladimir Dimitrov - Master" (twice). In 2016, he was awarded the Order of St. St. Cyril and Methodius" - first degree. He is a member of the Union of Bulgarian Artists.
