Gergana Lalova, painting exhibition

Gergana Lalova, painting exhibition

“When I paint, I paint for myself, not caring if anyone will like the painting or not. Because art is extremely subjective. You'll like something I won't. However, the recognition you get despite everything, when you go to the opening of the exhibition and see the people who came and respected you, it kind of spurs you on. It gives you wings.” Gergana Lalova

Description

From March 13th to April 5th, Le Papillon Art Gallery is pleased to present the cheerful works of Gergana Lalova for the first time with a solo exhibition in Varna. With a colorful exposition in the style of postmodernism with elements of Fauvism, with a lot of freedom, ease and serenity, is the best way to mark the beginning of the spring, the rebirth of life, the persistent warmth of the sun. United by subjects of frozen life, implied presence and the theme "Colorful", the nineteen canvases created in the recent months take us on an exuberant walk towards harmony and self-absorption.

The subject of still life attracts Gergana as an opportunity to express her aesthetic delight in the contemplation of the things we live with and see in our daily lives. These are objects that carry not only a specific emotion for the artist, but also challenge her creative expressionism to create a feeling of spaciousness, mystery, stories of color and form. Her aesthetics and good taste are influenced by Matisse, Picasso, and Monet. In her creative growth, she absorbed a lot from the large-scale expression of her father, Michail Lalov, but mostly from the philosophy and manner of her mentor and teacher from the academy - Vihroni Popnedelev. Intertwining silhouettes; mosaic-constructed figures, generously layered yet delicately translucent layers; a profile of a woman or part of a landscape peering out of a window; flowers and free-standing forms of fruits - these are the main characters in the gently captivating canvases of the "Colorful" exhibition. "The still lives with women's bodies and faces are a new beginning that I started using in the paintings. I started experimenting with them, drawing, wanting to show them in some way - to come out of me, because for a long time I was afraid to do this step and at one point I felt ready for this new challenge". Gergana Lalova loves still life, but over the years she also experimented with abstraction. She combines bright colors in bold contrasting compositions and experiences fun unfolding her talent and fine sense of modernism in various techniques - oil, acrylic, pigments, sand, ink on canvas and paper.

Gergana is the daughter of the great artist Michail Lalov and carrying his creative genes, she develops in the same field as her father - painting, but also builds on it. Since 2009, she has also been a make-up artist in the Global Films team in some of the most watched shows and TV projects: "Masters of the Air", "Like Two Drops of Water", "The Masked Singer", "Bulgaria is Looking for Talent", etc.
