Honest, seeking, experimenting, exciting, with authentic manner, multilayers and multiplicity of her thoughts in shape and color, Stiliana gives us an opportunity to travel over things, and in time. Her works exalt and convey the thought and the gaze over the everyday, over the spaces where we can find our mental harbor. In this exposition, her emotional "journey" stops us where there is "Hope", "Only for a minute", “At our afternoons" "Let's catch an idea" and "So on" ... The names of her paintings create the same feeling as the complex plots of the artist. There, stories develop on different boards, such as in parallel worlds, where thin threads and symbolic figures make the connection between them enigmatic and unfolding as a maze.
The narrative in Stiliana's painting is dynamic, real and surreal, figurative and abstract at the same time, and probably anyone can find a few more styles in her paintings. Stiliana uses complex composition flies in her sleep. Her way to show the world from a bird's eye view suggests summarizing the picture and distinguishing the most important. Mixing paints accumulation, with a watercolor-like free spill and small fine details with pastel, concentrate the viewer in the plot and the more we look, the more we find. Often freely separate spaces alternating with landscapes, objects and full of life, moving figures emphasize the originality and inimitability of her style. The artist's colorfulness as a person manifests in painting with different technical manners, such as the layering of places of oil paints, creating density and volume of stories with harmonious color accents. This complex enigmatic and compositional structure is also supported by the choice of funds. The artist uses acrylic, pastel, oil paints and charcoal. Thus specifies the story, entering a drawing detail, and at the same time, through the effect of the colored spots of spontaneous spleen, veins the seizures that emerge through fog parts of reality.
Stiliana is real and brave and does not paint because she would like to please one or the other connoisseurs, but because she is free and frank. Her paintings preserve a personal experience, a message, meaning and their outcome is the subconscious, rich in emotions, hopes, symbols. The figures in her paintings are a metaphor of thoughts, aspirations, disappointments, weaknesses. Chests, stones, luggage, tents, are rescue hooks, a symbol of its past and future. And the crowds of twisted, mounted and intertwined lines are the metaphor of the human feelings and connectivity of everything in the world. The stories are like dreamy stories that preserve with tenderness and warm memories of personal experiences, footage of familiar scenes, sounds, aromas and lights.
Stiliana Uzunova is descended from a family of artists, and she herself graduated from the High School of Art and the National Academy of Arts in Sofia with a major in Book and Printed Graphics with Prof. Vladislav Paskalev. Apart from being a contemporary artist, she is known as a respected makeup artist from the TV format "like two drops of water". She has been praised with many awards in Bulgaria and abroad. So far, there are eight solo exhibitions. She also participates in many common exhibitions and projects.
