Description
The one-of-a-kind festival with original and unique stylistic independence of authentic works executed in oil, acrylic paints or in mixed media on canvas, wood as well as wood sculptures, ceramics stimulates our senses of joy of life with a feast of colorful stories in which there is hilarity, daring, romance and magic. Art naïve is a living, active phenomenon in global art culture today. It is also called "art of the sacred heart", "art of instinct", "raw", "modern neo-primitivism", "free from canons". These definitions emphasize its emotionality and spontaneity. What is specific about Art Naive is that it is guided by the general feeling of cheerfulness, and not by certain ideas and views, and has a recognizable authentic each with own stylization of the image. We often observe romanticism and nostalgia for human values and virtues of a old times often not existing in the lives of the fans of this genre. These are specific archetypes observed even in early Christian frescoes, a return to ideas that are rooted in early childhood. We can recognize a general roundness of forms, simplification of things, as in a child's drawing, brightness of colors, and this in its wholeness evokes the feeling of love and kindness.
Among the authors working in this style are a number of artists with academic education, which adds to the value of the works and high professional technical performance. Among the Bulgarian participants there are artists who have won world awards. Among them are Nikolay Stoev (two-time winner of the Prix Suisse et Prix d'Europe in Walrus, Switzerland, and winner of the special prize of the Biennale of Art Humor in Tolentino, Italy) and Rosen Rashev - Roshpaka (winner of the Grand Prix of Museum of Naive and Marginal Art in Jagodina, Serbia). Mariela Dimitrova - Mara stands out with her non-traditional plastic paintings and Isabelle Nemecek.
Nowadays, when rationalism in life is dominant, naive and intuitive art in painting occupies a special place. This is due to the unique ability of artists to immerse a person in a world of carefreeness, naivety and spiritual purity. Their works are filled with what is sometimes lacking in most other areas: unadulterated goodwill. Without being influenced by the traditions of art, these artists rely on their personal experience and paint paintings reflecting their memories, desires and dreams. The topics they choose are often related to their childhood, the place where they were born, the environment in which they grew up, the daily routine and holiday occasions, but they also cover political, historical and social issues, not to mention fantastic utopian worlds. In this way, naive artists are distinguished by original and unique stylistic independence.
The naive style is characterized by lightness, bright colors, a child's view of the world, unencumbered by academic rules. Naivism is a kind of celebration of life, a delight for the senses that we need as a fine art therapy. The world is spinning, but humanity is excited by the same things: love, happiness, admiration, delight, curiosity ...
